Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Kluedin is an information service that helps parents understand internet culture, slang, memes, and online trends affecting children aged 8–16. The service is operated as an independent project and accessible at kluedin.app and through the Kluedin mobile app.

2. What data we collect

We are built so that almost nothing about you ever reaches us. Specifically:

• Stored on your device only — your chosen country/language, your saved (favourited) items, and your quiz progress are kept locally on your device (localStorage) and are never sent to or stored on our servers.
• Content requests — when the app loads trends, slang, memes or news, it sends your chosen country and language as part of the request so we can return the right content. These requests are not tied to an account or a persistent identifier, and we do not build a profile from them.
• Push notifications — if you enable them, your device subscribes to a per-country "topic" through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. We do not receive or store any token, device ID, or anything else that identifies your device (see section 4).
• Purchases — if you buy a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple, and subscription status is managed via RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier. We never receive your name, email, or card details (see section 5).
• Tips you submit — if you voluntarily send us a tip (e.g. a new slang word), the text you type is stored so we can review it. Please don't include personal information in a tip.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. Standard server access logs may briefly record IP addresses for security and abuse-prevention; these are not used to identify or profile you and are not retained long-term.

3. What we do NOT do

• No accounts, no registration, no login
• No advertising, no ad SDKs, and no tracking across apps or websites (we never ask for App Tracking Transparency permission)
• No behavioural profiling and no selling of data
• No cookies used for tracking or advertising
• No collection of location beyond the country you choose yourself

4. Push notifications

Push notifications are entirely optional. If you enable them:

• Your device subscribes to a country topic (for example "country_SE") through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• We publish alerts to that topic. Because we send to a topic rather than to individual devices, we store no device tokens and cannot target, identify, or count an individual user.
• To deliver messages to your device, Google FCM issues a registration token to the device itself and processes it on Google's infrastructure. That token never reaches our servers. Google's handling is governed by their policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
• Alerts are sent to everyone subscribed in a country — never personalised or targeted.
• You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Kluedin may offer an optional paid subscription. If you purchase one:

• The payment itself is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details.
• We use RevenueCat to validate and manage subscription status so we can unlock paid features. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, app-generated identifier and your purchase/subscription status and receipt — not your name, email, or card data. RevenueCat's policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
• Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

6. Third-party services

The only third parties involved are those technically required to run the service. We share only what is strictly necessary, and never for advertising:

• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications (section 4).
• RevenueCat & Apple — to process and validate subscriptions (section 5).
• Google Fonts — typography is loaded from Google's font servers, which means your IP address is visible to Google when fonts load. Their policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone. We have no advertising partners and no data brokers.

7. Data retention

We store no push tokens or device identifiers, so there is nothing on our side to retain or delete for notifications. Subscription status is retained by RevenueCat for as long as needed to provide and validate your subscription. Tips you submit are kept only as long as needed to review them.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, erase, rectify, object to the processing of, and port any personal data we hold. Because we hold almost no data tied to you, there is usually nothing to act on — but you can always reach us at [email protected], and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's privacy

Kluedin is a service designed for parents and adults. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 16. The service does not require registration and is not directed at children.

10. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we handle, and we minimise what we collect in the first place.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
